Encrypted Posted September 23, 2004 Posted September 23, 2004 Do you think plasma weaponry could be possible. We could use electromagnetic fields to control the direction and shape of the plama 'projectiles'. A good energy souce could help to ionise the air which could be used to fire. So there would be unlimited ammunition. Encrypted
5614 Posted September 23, 2004 Posted September 23, 2004 i think that at the moment they are not realistic, even if someone could make on, it would have to be in a lab with a lot of eqipment which is not suibtable for the battlefield.
YT2095 Posted September 23, 2004 Posted September 23, 2004 a Plasma isn`t idealy suited as a weapon either, it`s easily broken down and/or deflected, you have to think in terms of defense, Can weapon X be defended against? if the answer`s YES easily, then no mater how lethal it is under "ideal" situations, it`s not a good weapon.
Encrypted Posted September 23, 2004 Author Posted September 23, 2004 How could plasma be reflected/dissipated easily? Encrypted
Cap'n Refsmmat Posted September 23, 2004 Posted September 23, 2004 The same magnetic field that aimed it.
YT2095 Posted September 23, 2004 Posted September 23, 2004 a gentle breeze or an EM field would suffice, a basic farraday cage would destroy it outright
Encrypted Posted September 23, 2004 Author Posted September 23, 2004 ahhhh.....ok i get it now! Encrypted
Cap'n Refsmmat Posted September 23, 2004 Posted September 23, 2004 a basic farraday cage would destroy it outright What? How does a faraday cage affect plasma?
YT2095 Posted September 23, 2004 Posted September 23, 2004 What? How does a faraday cage affect plasma? ask the mesh on your Microwave door
RICHARDBATTY Posted September 23, 2004 Posted September 23, 2004 ask the mesh on your Microwave door I in no way recomend trying this but on braniac a tv program loosely based on science but realy just and excuse to prat about, a lit cocktail stick was placed in a microwave supported with play dough. It produced a basic plasma display. Quite cool.
YT2095 Posted September 23, 2004 Posted September 23, 2004 I`ll bet it didn`t escape the door though (farraday cage).
RICHARDBATTY Posted September 23, 2004 Posted September 23, 2004 I`ll bet it didn`t escape the door though (farraday cage). No its just super heated gas and rises to the top out of the way of the wave in pulses. I couldn't see what it did to the roof of the micro before it cooled though. I wouldn't want to try it with mine. Well I would but you know what I mean.
