congenital blindness-is it hereditary or genetic ?

If a blind couple i.e born blind at birth had a child, would it be also born blind ?

i.e both parents are born blind - congenital blindness, the child born from them i.e offspring will also be born blind ?

thanks & regards,

I don't know, but I think most congenital blindness is not genetic. I have not heard of cautions for blind people not to have children out of concern that they would also be born blind.

I'm pretty sure that there can be genetic reasons to be born blind, but it can also be non-genetic reasons. You'd have to ask a doctor about a particular case if you want to know.
