benice Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 The surface in above image is a portion of the graph of some mathematical equation. Let's do some brainstorming: Can you guess what's inside the surface? .
benice Posted February 6, 2011 Author Posted February 6, 2011 Hint: Consider the intersection of a horizontal plane with the surface. The intersection consists of a family of funny curves. (An example curve is shown below. It has nothing to do with the answer.) Cut off the upper surface above the horizontal plane to get a funny 3D image. (This curve is obtained from another surface.)
khaled Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 My guess about the first 3D image is .. Race Cars !
benice Posted February 7, 2011 Author Posted February 7, 2011 My guess about the first 3D image is .. Race Cars ! Two living things. Three animal-like faces. Thanks for your reply.
imatfaal Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Benice - i have seen your question on a few fora, but not sure what it is about. Could you explain further? Is it a representation of an equation with three plus variables? Your last message seems to say it is a real figure disguised. What significance does the black section in the bottom left have? Or the obvious multiple layers on the right hand edge?
benice Posted February 9, 2011 Author Posted February 9, 2011 ... What significance does the black section in the bottom left have? Or the obvious multiple layers on the right hand edge? They are isosurfaces of the same function Fun(x,y,z) at different levels.
benice Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 Answers: A funny 3D image: A funny curve: The above graphics were created completely using math formulas and math softwares.
