RealFunnyFungi Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Two neutral metal spheres X n Y are placed in contact with each other on two insutating supports. A positively charged rod is brought close to X after Y is earthed with a conducting wire. I would like to ask how's the distribution of charges on the spheres.
swansont Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 You have to go first. What do you think it will be?
rktpro Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Read more about induction and conduction on the net. Do it yourself!
timo Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Keep in mind that when the charge distribution is induced from the outside the charges get an additional exclamation mark.
Mr Skeptic Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 In electrostatics, the charges will move until there is no net force acting on them.
RealFunnyFungi Posted February 20, 2011 Author Posted February 20, 2011 ok thanks. I will figure it out by myself.
