veganazi Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 (edited) For an exploratory essay, I am considering writing about genetics and intellectual property. However, I need a minimum of three viewpoints. I know there are those who are for patenting genetic discoveries and those who are against it, but I still need a third viewpoint. Can anyone point me in the direction of one or more credible sources that can be considered a third viewpoint? Many thanks. Edited February 25, 2011 by veganazi
Mr Skeptic Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 There's some who think there should not be intellectual property (it belongs to everyone), and some who think people shouldn't modify genes (playing god). And there's some who just don't care.
SMF Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I don't know, but I do think that there are some ethical issues that need to be cleared up regarding patenting genes and tissue. The Monsanto vs Schmeiser case and the development of the HeLa cell line come to mind. SM
