lemur
As I understand it, below the frostline the ground stays @50F year round. The advantage is cooling in the summer and some warmth in the winter. I suppose it depends on the method you're using to harness it though. My favorite is living in a cave, but I may be biased toward ancient traditions:)
SMF
There is also hot rock geothermal electricity production. What are you interested in. It would be helpful if you formulated some specific questions that are more appropriate for a forum rather than your shotgun of questions that, taken together, would be an appropriate subject for an entire book. sacscale
1. Explain the local geothermal economic advantages? 2. Explain the local geothermal economic disadvantages? 3. Explain the local geothermal environmental disadvantages? 3. Explain the global geothermal environmental advantages? 4. Explain the global geothermal environmental disadvantages? Looks like the fourth one should be edited to "global" rather than "local" but the advantages are a cheap and relatively endless energy supply with very little pollution, the downside is finding a place to develop and the cost of development.
