ecoli Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 my desktop is literally a wallpaper, with no icons and no task bar. minimalism to the max! How do you run programs?
Klaynos Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 odg ffsjoe, bit busy isn't it? We need more weird linux ones, windows ones always look too similar and people need to stop using the horrid blue theme...
ffsjoe Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 I tidied it up as much as I could for this thread. It used to be completely chocas but I can't seem to get it any less cluttered. I could just put everything in 1 folder but I like everything out in the open.
Meti Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 My, all of these fancy desktops are a bit overwhelming for me; I like to keep my workspace clean and simple:
rakuenso Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 How do you run programs? it's amazing what you can accomplish with windows_key + r and to the dude above me: that's not clean and simple
Klaynos Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 This is my desktop when I want clean and simple... I've made the image a bit smaller....
shush Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 And I thought I was the only doofus with a blank desktop!
1veedo Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Do you ever accidently click firefox instead of menu?
insane_alien Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 he could have coordination, or use the menu button like me.
insane_alien Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 thought i would revive this thread since i got my desktop looking nice and awesome. here it is, ignore the assignment i'm working on down the bottom.
YT2095 Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 I have NO Idea how to even get mine as pic/snapshot, nevermind put it on here! it`s basic black with Tahni2d running on there (doing "stuff"). boring eh!
the tree Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Insane, that is a nice desktop (considering that it's GNOME). A screen shot of my absolutely gorgeous K desktop is located [here] although because my free host is all free-host-ish, you might have to navigate to my homepage and back again to avoid being accused of evil evil hotlinking, if you can't work out how to do that, then you're clearly really dumb so screw you. The icons and stuff are usually hidden and only appear when the mouse is in range, but I figured I'd have them there so that my desktop would look like slightly more than a background+image desktop.
1veedo Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Hey, gnome is sexy! (lol and as I'm posting this I'm running KDE) btw you do know you can just copy+past, or simply reload the page when you get the "this free host is awesome" page? plac.php0h.com/Graphics/desktop.png
Klaynos Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 the tree I can;t find the screen shot... I've never been a massive fan of KDE's general look, prefer the cleanness of gnome... nice IA, and YT the prtscr or print screen button in the top right then open on paint (start -> run -> type paint) and paste into there.
Sisyphus Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Usually my desktop is plain black, but right now it's a sweet painting of Cthulhu. I'm too computer illiterate to give a screenshot, though.
the tree Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 *smacks head repeatedly on desk* (or would do if I had a desk near me). Your best bet is to navigate to plac.php0h.com and then back to the URL of the screenshot so that your referring URL doesn't give the impression that the image was hotlinked.

Yeah got it to work in the end, hehe. Looks nice.
Royston Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Bog standard XP, with an artists impression of a star forming, set as my background...from the NASA website.
Klaynos Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 My uni desktop is a slightly modified macOSx standard with the bar at the bottom but with hubble deep field in the back ground Or at least it was before I covered it with so many folders and files that I can no longer make much of it out... Or infact find anything, ever...
