5614 Posted December 14, 2004 Posted December 14, 2004 come on guys... what game is good is just a matter or opinion... its pointless arguing about it. at the same time - halo does rock!!!
JaKiri Posted December 14, 2004 Posted December 14, 2004 unreals engine is so much better than deus ex IMO. Deus Ex runs on the Unreal Engine.
Artorius Posted December 14, 2004 Posted December 14, 2004 Im still an avid rtcw player....wolfenstein is the real king of the show...
JaKiri Posted December 14, 2004 Posted December 14, 2004 ET has punkbuster, thus it loses by default.
bloodhound Posted December 15, 2004 Author Posted December 15, 2004 Deus Ex runs on the Unreal Engine. AH, u got me there. Y didnt u tell me before. goes and plays deus ex again. would love playing half life 2 or doom3 but i dont think my hardware can support it hehe.
Guest lumpy_chunk Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 sometimes you can keep it clean by puting stuff in a folder unlike my brother,Steven his desk top is full of unneded stuff like,a file called "chippy.wav" well that is all or not.
Rasori Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 JaKiri, what's wrong with Punkbuster? Unless you're a hacker, it doesn't do anything bad.
5614 Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 ecoli's desktop looks like win98 with office 2000
Dave Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 ecoli's desktop looks like win98 with office 2000 That's what I though. However, I was rather drunk when I posted that so I guess I could've been wrong
Guest bkronbergs Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 This is my desktop, with pre-beta Longhorn!! Ho ho ho, BitTorrent forever! Beta is released Feb. isnt it?
Sayonara Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 The next incarnation of Windows OS. Please try to use google instead of hijacking threads with posts that begin "wtf is..."
Guest bkronbergs Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 well said sayonara, and SURELY everyone knows that the next microsoft OS release is codenamed longhorn!! anyway, what do people think of the look of it?
Sayonara Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 I think it was very mean of them not to make XP that shiny. Apparently Longhorn will require a gfx card that's better than entry-level, so as far as our pretty desktops go it might not have the impact we'd expect for a while (although this will just help drive Moore's Law in the end, so who cares?) http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/01/13/2351247&tid=201
Guest bkronbergs Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 good point sayonara, but by the time Longhorn is released properley, EVERYONE will have the right specs, as computers just wont be sold with the wrong ones, Microsoft I am sure would tip the manufacturers, cos they will want everyone who can use it on Longhorn. But Apple's Tiger release this year I am awaiting eagerly!
Sayonara Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 I was going to say "don't overlook the people who buy the components and build their own", but of course most people in that category spend as much as they can on gfx cards. A lot of package retailers like Tiny, PC World etc sell sub-standard components, and it's their customers who will be worst off.
ecoli Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 ecoli's desktop looks like win98 with office 2000 Windows ME with office 2000, actually. Winodws Longhorn!!!. What a stupid name!!!
5614 Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 how do you get a copy of loghorn beta? on the sys properties it says its alpha build? ^ what bud said.
Sayonara Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 He quite clearly called it "pre-beta", which is what an alpha build is. As for bud's question, those are obviously the name/company entries he gave when he installed it.
Guest bkronbergs Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 Sayonara, thanks for answering the questions posed! As for where I got the Alpha build from, I got it from BitTorrent, so try and check that one out!!
bloodhound Posted January 17, 2005 Author Posted January 17, 2005 I wonder if my laptops ati mr 9000 igp can handle it. I might try the beta later on. Is there any danger to my hardware by trying out longhorn? edit: hmm i notice they have included window transparencies and other nice effects. but most likely ill just get rid of all of them so as to improve performance
