poorpatti Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 There is an ASTM test for hydrolyzable chloride involving dissolving sample in 45.0 mL of 0.1N KOH (MeOH), reflux, add phenolphthalein indicator, titrate with 0.1 N HCl (aq). The equation is (V-B)(N)(3.55 g Cl/eq)/(W) The volume of the sample titrated is invariable LESS than the blank. I am getting some strange results here. Does anyone have any information/suggestions/ideas? Sure would appreciate the input. Thanks!
John Cuthber Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 As far as I can see, the titre of the the sample should be less than the blank. I think there's an error in the method.
