Edisonian
Do any of you believe that time travel is not possible as evidenced by the Grandfather Paradox or do you believe that there is an aspect of releativity in the timeline backwards [or parallel universes] that would permit sucsessful time travel? psi20
I believe in time travel. I'm doing it right now.

AL
grandfather paradox? wanna fill in us less educated folks? If you go back in time and kill your grandfather before he sired your parent, what would happen?
Callipygous
so is there a reason they say grandfather instead of just father? if you got him before he sired you... are there some implications to the grandfather way that im missing?
Sayonara
The GF paradox is just a logic trap. In all likelihood it wouldn't actually happen.
philbo1965uk
time travel is not possible....not in which you can interract yourself...if you were not there in the first place you cannot visit....time does not exist as linear....its already happened
Sayonara
If time is not linear, then time travel is certainly possible. You're forgetting pre-destination.
ydoaPs
could you please explain how it is a logical trap and wouldn't happen? btw, happy b-day The GF paradox is just a logic trap. In all likelihood it wouldn't actually happen[/u'].
iglak
If time is not linear, then time travel is certainly possible. and if it is linear, it is still possible, as my conjectures show.

Guest Ubern0va
i believe that paradoxes are not possible. Well noted. I believe that if a paradox exists for a certain theory, that theory is invalid. At least I think that's what you meant iglak sorry if I'm mistaken. Thus far I don't think that there has been a solid theory that has paradoxi (paradoxes). The point of a theory is to explain the unexplained not to create more confusion. JHAQ
The GF paradox does not relate to time travel . It means that clocks run slower as ones speed increases , not go backwards .Take two twins , accelerate one to near light speed on a space ship & when he gets back he will have aged only by the earth time he has been gone but his earth -brother could be a much older man ( even dead from old age )& depending on how near the traveller got to light speed . Sayonara
No, the twins paradox is - perhaps not surprisingly - called the Twins Paradox. It relates to special relativity. The Grandfather Paradox is ONLY to do with time travel.
