muffinman Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 The way my teacher structures his questions is by giving you all the reagents and expecting you to know the products. After the reagents, there is/are bold face numbers, those correspond to how many answers he expects. The following are some practice problems, I did all but 1 problem, and I was hoping that it can be proofread and corrected. The questions with stars next to them are the ones that I'm not 100% sure about. The only one I didn't do was the one that has answers 38 + 39 Thank you in advance for the help
hypervalent_iodine Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 (edited) Unfortunately, we're not really here to proof read people's assignments, but we can help you with the questions you are struggling with. With respect tot the epoxide question, you have to think about what sort of reactions epoxides love to undergo and what role the oxygen on the MeOH will play. The only hint I will give you at this point is that the first step of your reaction is a lone pair of electrons on the epoxide oxygen will pick up your H+. Edited May 15, 2011 by hypervalent_iodine
muffinman Posted May 16, 2011 Author Posted May 16, 2011 It's not an assignment, just practice. I wanted to know if i was doing them correctly so i was prepared for the exam to come.
hypervalent_iodine Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Even still, just telling you the answer defeats the point. Have you had another go at 38/39? Your other answers look okay to me.
