Marat Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Simvastatin is one of the easiest drugs in medicine to dose properly: 0 mg/day. If you want to treat hypercholesterolemia without destroying the patient's musculature, Niaspan is a far better option, as long as the liver enzymes are all right.
Stefan-CoA Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 So, if I understand this correctly? Not getting nutrients (eating) leads to bad health? Huh, who'da thunk it?
jamie33 Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 It is very easy to get one's nutrition in a pill, easy to swallow a vitamin every day and not worry about what you eat. But it's not good for your health in the long run. The best kinds of nutrition are those you eat, fresh fruits of all colors; blueberries, peaches, apples, and cherries, as well as fresh vegetables that have deep colors as well, like broccoli, eggplant and cabbage. When you get your nutrition from the foods you eat rather than relying on a chemical compound that you take, you're sure to keep your health and avoid the chronic diseases that tend to plague those who live on the modern diet of processed foods. simvastatin Many people don't recognize the importance of nutrition when they are sick. Everybody knows that chicken soup helps with colds, and that cranberry juice can help with urinary tract infections. What lots of people don't know is that increased potassium intake can help flush sodium out of the body. This can help with high blood pressure, some forms of congestive heart disease, and water retention. With the public onslaught of information about the importance of keeping cholesterol low, people are more aware of the importance of a high fiber diet to lower cholesterol or keep it low.normal cholesterol levels
Marat Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Conventional nutrition theory posits that the only purpose of nutrients is to avoid the characteristic diseases of nutrient deficiency states. But in making this assumption, it simply defines away, a priori, the possibility that getting more of various nutrients than you could possibly get from eating food has no ability to prevent or cure diseases which have nothing to do with nutrient deficiency states. Take for example all the medical benefits now recognized for taking very large doses of vitamin D3, folic acid, the vitamin B1 provitamin benfotiamine, etc., such as you could never get from a normal diet.
islamuzlum Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 I believe on the saying that "health is wealth" and we must take of ourselves and eat plenty of the right foods just enough for our body to digest and not to form into fats. Thanks for the information about the necessity of Vitamin K in our body.
Ahsan Iqbal Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 May be things are not as complex as they seem. Let me explain. There are two classes of material required to build human body and keep it healthy. One class consists of those that can be synthesized within the body itself from simpler substances. The other class consists of those, which cannot be synthesized by the body itself and must be taken through the diet. Now at the minimum level, the diet must contain all those substances that cannot be synthesized in the body itself. If these substances are taken adequately, there is no need for other substances to be taken. That is why, humans can live a healthy life even if they don't take all the nutrients the body is made of. A simple set of diet containing all the essential elements, which cannot be synthesized by the body is sufficient, but if you want to take more than enough care of your body, you can always go for other non-necessary elements.
