Vastor Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 My note i need someone to check the note i made, who know how to 'simplify' and give better idea for better presentation and maybe fix something that wrong in my notes. btw, the most problematic in the notes is Quadractic Function, it's kind of messy and if u got any idea to modify it, post here.. thnx ^^
imatfaal Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Vastor - I don't open unknown websites on my company pc so won't be able to look over your work. In general; unless space is at a premium put in every stage and keep each stage simple, do not assume that any stage is simple (ie explain why you feel you have the right to do anything that isn't very straightforward), do not hide any side calculations, use good layout like latex or others - if not check your bracketing obsessively, and always go back through to check minus signs and numbers of like terms. I have noticed you put in a numerical check after the algebraic work - this is good, but be sure to make it obvious. Also be really careful to get this right; its frighteningly easy to assume the answer to check sum which negates the whole point (like you did in your log example when you assumed it showed you were wrong).
Vastor Posted May 18, 2011 Author Posted May 18, 2011 well, it's just file sharing website to download power point file. in power point, can't use latex, but i use 'manual arranging' method, thought. (ex. rather than write 1/2, i put 1 with underline, and the put 2 at it bottom) as you can see in the screen shot about side calculation, i think putting the 'bubble chat' is enough about checking the calculations, I think I'll do when I'm done those notes, but, it's not really matter because it can be identified easily, the real problems here is when i got no idea how to get my reader(generally my classmate) to understand my notes, which is very problematic in Quadratic Function. this is because i want to make the notes as self-understood to the reader, would be greatly appreciated if anyone can help. anyway, thnx for reply ^^
Vastor Posted May 20, 2011 Author Posted May 20, 2011 second and third picture is like direct copy from text book(it's only contain word, thought), this part, like the textbook, is very messy, and hard to get the concept [i get the concept(a bit)], and there is a side note in textbook for this which say, "explain mathematically why [math] f(x) = a(x + p)^2 [/math] has a minimum value when [math] a > 0[/math] and a maximum value when [math]a < 0[/math] and I don't want direct answer for this, I just want some clue or 'image' on how this statement can be explain mathematically, so that I can grab the concept, and use it to adjust my note. and maybe the explanation for [math] f(x) = ax2 + bx + c [/math] too, if there any...
