mab Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 Hi, Which files are useless and can be deleted from the HARD DISK, so that one could have more space.
bloodhound Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 u can safely delete your temporary internet files. I think you can delete your files in the TEMP folder as well. Just keep them in the recycle bin for a while. and if nothing happens then get rid of it altogether
Mad Mardigan Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 Hmm, dont have that prob with a 120 gig and 80 gig swap drive. I will let you know it I fill them up.
bloodhound Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 unfortunately for laptop owners like me, most laptops arent properly equipped. looking for a external hard disk.. reccommend any cheap good ones?
Mad Mardigan Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 http://www.frontierpc.com/ProductDetail.aspx?productID=950012289 You can use that to make your own external hdd. Then just find a cheap hdd you can stand. There is other brands and types, just shop around. I remem those day, I gave that laptop to my dad. I had a 10 gig external for my small mp3 collection, now 10 gig would hold half of them.
5614 Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 there are loadsa little things, however if you want to clear up big spaces none will help. delete old games, compress stuff, make sure you HDD is NTFS and not fat or fat32. defrag your HDD, turn off system restore, delete unnecesary games, videos, images and sounds, as they take up most space. unless it is really impossible to do, i recommend a format... as you never seem to fill up the HDD with all the old stuff! meaning more free space. but that means you need to back up stuff too.
