MTL Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Simple biochem question: how do you determine if a growth factor/protein is activated? Just if it is phosphorylated? If that is right, then is PCR the best way to probe for that, or are there better techniques? Thanks!
CharonY Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 a) With PCR you can only detect DNA and (after RT) RNA. b) Activity is dependent on concentration and activation status.
WorldOfBiochemistry Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 With PCR you are unable to check the phosphorylated status. The best way is with immunobloting.
