SaveTheDay Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 So how does the triboelectric scale work and why is air at the top? ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triboelectric_effect ) Does that mean that an arrow of Ebonite shooting through air will be charged to great measure at the end of its flight.?
the guy Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 if the air is dry then yes. a lot of planes have static dischargers on them to stop the charge from building too much in flight. although if it was an arrow the chances are it's flight would be short so it would build considerable charge, but on a prolongued flight it would *wouldn't build
SaveTheDay Posted June 26, 2011 Author Posted June 26, 2011 (edited) Thanks man! Although why would it have less charge if flew for longer? Edited June 26, 2011 by SaveTheDay
the guy Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 it would build more on longer, sorry i got my typing all muddled
