i was referring to making chlorates there is the method of getting them from bleech and you said it works but then you said you have found an easier way i was asking what is the easier way for making chlorates, i was a bit lost when you mentiond the other things

 

it`s a long winded method, but it does work, I`ve done the same myself in the past, until I found an easier way

it`s generaly safer to buy the pure chems than make them yourself, but it`s also a good learning tool (depending upon what you`re trying to make of course!)

yes what else can KNO3 be used in we have gun powder, a rocket propellant, smoke bombs, anything else because i would'nt mind using some of my potassium nitrate up

 

Edit: i've had enough of making black powder mine never seems to work poperly

You could always use it as a fertilizer, as it was intended to. Or, you could use it and sulfuric acid to make nitric acid.

damn i just thought while the mixture for the smoke bomb is still a liquid i could run a pieace of string through to creat a fuse, a simple easy and probably effective fuse
