psi20 Posted October 17, 2004 Posted October 17, 2004 Ever had a 103 F flu suddenly pop up go away in a matter of hours? Just curious to see whether this happens often or if what I drank early in the morning helped it.
Glider Posted October 17, 2004 Posted October 17, 2004 The symptoms may have been flu-like, but for it to come and go so quickly, it probably wan't flu. You may have just had an acute idiopathic infection. Sometime people can respond to flu immunisation by presenting acute flu symptoms some hours after having the jab. These usually pass overnight though.
SlackGirl Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 I think the flu vaccination is a big scam on the public. The media tries to make every1 afraid that they will be "infected" if they don't get the shot. The truth is that the older people, and the younger children will need if because of their weak immune systems. The average person will be just fine with a week of rest and some good ol' chicken noodle soup.
Sayonara Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 I suppose that when you say "average" you are just ignoring the thousands of people who die from flu every year?
Ophiolite Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 I think the flu vaccination is a big scam on the public. The truth is that the older people, and the younger children will need if because of their weak immune systems. The average person will be just fine with a week of rest and some good ol' chicken noodle soup.In the 1918-1919 flu epidemic between 25,000,000 and 40,000,000 people died. If the same percentage of the population were to die in a pandemic today, that would be between 90,000,000 and 145,000,000. The highest mortality rate in 1918/19 was among those aged 20 to 40. Scam? You just keep taking that chicken soup. You'll be fine.
coquina Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 I wish doctors would have separate waiting rooms for people with colds and flu from those who are there for routine physicals or traumatic injuries. There is no sense in putting well people in close proximity to a bunch of sick ones.
Sorcerer Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 Yeah there is, it helps the doctor stay in business.
psi20 Posted October 22, 2004 Author Posted October 22, 2004 If you get ill from the flu, try drinking soy milk. If you get healthier faster or slower, post it here please.
rakuenso Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 Influenza is a nasty little bugger, my mom just got it and i'm paranoid about getting it myself. Are there any other viruses that have 1+ RNA strands in their capsule?
