Aardvark Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 'Now, why do you get asked who you are, and where you live every time you want to make a purchase any more?' I'm confused. Are people asking your name and address when you go shopping?
Mad Mardigan Posted October 20, 2004 Author Posted October 20, 2004 Get your oil changed at a quick stop place, go to radio shack, soon Walmart and everywhere else. Edit: WTF is with this? http://news.com.com/RFID+tags+The+people+say+no/2010-1039_3-5332478.html?tag=st.ref.goo
Aardvark Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 Why does someone doing an oil change want your ID and address? That's not happening in England, at least not yet.
Aardvark Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 That tag sounds about as dodgy as they come. Even Big Brother didn't come up with that one.
Phi for All Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 Why does someone doing an oil change want your ID and address? So they can track your spending habits and sell your name and vitals to other companies. If you change your oil regularly, you're bound to want the new enhanced anniversary edition Star Wars trilogy set on DVD.

Aardvark Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 I've got a religious friend who says this is all predicted in the Bible. Not so much Big Brother as the Anti Christ. I'm not sure which i prefer.
Mad Mardigan Posted October 20, 2004 Author Posted October 20, 2004 I've got a religious friend who says this is all predicted in the Bible. Not so much Big Brother as the Anti Christ. I'm not sure which i prefer. Lets see a national registration, RFID chips, manditory ID cards, and so on so on.
Sayonara Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 http://slashdot.org/search.pl?query=rfid Not that RFID technology has anything to do with this topic, just showing how far back the RFID privacy-related news goes.
