Aussiljd Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Hello! I am finishing up my AS this semester, and trying to decide where to go next. I have my college choices narrowed down for specific programs, but I cannot decide between pursuing a BS in Biology or Environmental Science. I don't really have a career choice made just yet, but I will tell you a few things about myself so someone may be able to help point me in the right direction, or at least give some ideas where either degree could take me. -I need to be physically engaged; I cannot sit all day -I really enjoy thinking, or being mentally engaged -I LOVE to be outside -I have a strong passion for both animals and preserving/learning about our natural world -I enjoy problem solving and critical thinking -In the past I have mostly debated conservation type careers or something working with animals I know it isn't much to go on, but I am at the point now where I have to choose which program to apply to. Even just career choices with the different degrees could help me out! Thanks! Lisa

You might look at the requirements for potential careers. But recognize that often people have careers that differ from their formal education. The person is more important than the specific degree in many cases -- government jobs can be exceptions. 3. My general impression is that many employers will better understand and appreciate a Biology degree than one in Environmental Science.
