tecoyah Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 As with Anything that increases understanding, and opens up the dynamics of new technologies, the mapping of human structure will undoubtedly be insightful. We will likely take many decades to see dramatic results, but I don't see how the result could "Not" be productive.
badchad Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 I agree with tecoyah. Yes the genome is mapped, however the information by itself is not overly useful. It will take decades until we can make sense of it all and use it in a producive manner.
Nalos Surith Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 The Human Genome project is extremly important to all of mankind, the uses of its understanding are remarkable. Once we full can grasp what the parts of Human (and other lifeforms) DNA, we can develop new ways to extend life, cure the gene for balding, improve skin quality, we can even start playing with our own genes through gene theropy, or completely change our characteristics entirely, the possiblities of its useless are endless.
