instigator Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 I wasn't sure but decided to post this anyway. It's an intriguing topic and a very unusual astronomy website. They claim to have discovered a gigantic mountain on dwarf Planet Pluto. Their discovery was apparently reported to the IAU. The images are consistent but how the hack did they achieve these results is my question ?! http://spacenow.com.br/pluto6.html 1
Realitycheck Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Meade 14" telescope with 60 second exposure. Looks like the remnant of a relatively recent meteor that remained embedded. Very interesting. 1
Feeq Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 That's awesome, what a crazy find though. I'm surprised they didn't find it sooner.
Airbrush Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I can't believe we haven't heard about this around here. A mountain 284 MILES high on Pluto is incredible! Has this been confirmed?
Realitycheck Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Those pictures have definitely been spruced up.
Phi for All Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Let's see, first time poster just happens to find "an unusual" website and joins just to tell us about it. Can't fathom how a mysterious "they" were able to achieve "their" results. I smell a rat living in a molehill he thinks is a mountain on Pluto.
Realitycheck Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 (edited) "The diameter would be equivalent to the distance between Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia ..." Where? Ok, it's about that far across. Now I just have to scale the length on the map. Edited September 13, 2011 by Realitycheck
