sp_08 Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I need the genomic sequence for indica basmati (aromatic) rice.... i have searched all online rice databases as well as NCBI database but did not find anything. The sequence for oryza sativa indica is available but i need the sequence for basmati rice in particular. please help. i only need the sequence for chromosome 8. where can i find it? is it available on any online database? .... or can i get some information about any ongoing project working on this sequence?? help plz!

CharonY Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I am only aware of the genome sequence of Oryza sativa L. ssp. indica and japonica right now (the major groups). From what I remember Basmati is closely related to the japonica subspecies, but may have been domesticated independently.
