hunter4lyf Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 These questions have been bugging me for a very long time: What day does the star Betelgeuse rise at 10:00 PM? What day does the star Betelgeuse transit at 10:00 PM? What day does the star Betelgeuse set at 10:00 PM? What bright star is just rising at 2:00 AM on December 10? What bright star is just transiting at 7:00 PM on September 15? What bright star is just setting at 9:00 PM on April 20? What constellation is located at the zenith at 9:00 PM on September 10? I have been trying to use the program Stellarium to find the answers but I am very confused on how to go about it. Please help and thank you.
the asinine cretin Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Those are very urgent and existentially significant questions. I feel your pain.
ajb Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 We would need to now where you are before being able to help. I suggest you download Cartes du Ciel and explore the night sky for yourself.
tomgwyther Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 One might also research the difference between the definite and indefinite article.!
imatfaal Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 One might also research the difference between the definite and indefinite article.! Sorry Tom you have lost me there. a very long time: / the star Betelgeuse/ the star Betelgeuse / the star Betelgeuse / the zenith / the program Stellarium I cannot see a problem with any of them. I would prefer "which" rather that "what" perhaps - but otherwise...

Have you tried the Stellarium quick start guide and user's guide? http://www.stellarium.org/wiki/index.php/Quickstart_guide http://www.stellarium.org/wiki/index.php/Category:User's_Guide
tomgwyther Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 . I would prefer "which" rather that "what" perhaps - but otherwise... That's what I was getting at.
