budullewraagh Posted October 23, 2004 Posted October 23, 2004 i have a nice large bottle of 40% hydrogen peroxide. unfortunately it is white and viscous. the other ingredients (aside from water and hydrogen peroxide) are: cetaryl alcohol, cetareth-20, stearic acid, cetyl alcohol and phosphoric acid. i froze the solution and the hydrogen peroxide didn't come out. that's not cool at all. it was just a white solid. how can i extract the peroxide?
ed84c Posted October 23, 2004 Posted October 23, 2004 why do you want to extract the H202? The other ingredients are there to prevent it from decomposisng, which if purifyed it will do in a couple of days/ week
budullewraagh Posted October 23, 2004 Author Posted October 23, 2004 i want to fractionally freeze it to concentrate the peroxide
jsatan Posted October 23, 2004 Posted October 23, 2004 Then add it to sulfuic acid, lol. I know your game , I want to see what that stuff does to other stuff, lol. *shouts down the hole* hello is that china?
budullewraagh Posted October 23, 2004 Author Posted October 23, 2004 yeah, let's all make some peroxymonosulfuric:\ i was actually going to use it for its oxidizing properties as a means to not blow things up edit: well sorta
r1dermon Posted October 25, 2004 Posted October 25, 2004 why not use some type of nitrate or perchlorate? H2O2 tends to blow things up
budullewraagh Posted October 25, 2004 Author Posted October 25, 2004 because i have only 8oz of potassium nitrate and 8oz of strontium nitrate... i cant buy ANY nitrates, chlorates or perchlorates where i live actually
r1dermon Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 really? why's that? brooks pharmacy sells KNO3 by the 6oz bottle...
budullewraagh Posted October 26, 2004 Author Posted October 26, 2004 mhm, and we dont have a brooks' pharmacy here
r1dermon Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 woooooow, the big apple and no brooks pharmacy....no chem supply stores? i have about 4 within 5 miles of my house...
budullewraagh Posted October 26, 2004 Author Posted October 26, 2004 chem...supply stores? what dat? actually, we have a few glassware sellers around here but theyre so expensive that it's mostly ponitless...and no chemical suppliers. i have no access to nitrates, or halates or perhalates of any sort, for example. i have a great deal of lab work that i would like to do, but i need sulfuric acid for purification and extraction first, which i am having great difficulty obtaining.
r1dermon Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 old batteries? you might also try local colleges and universities. they carry an assortmant of chem's. i've gotten ammonium perchlorate from the UMASS lab for free. dont ask me why they gave it to me...lol.
YT2095 Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 i've gotten ammonium perchlorate from the UMASS lab for free. dont ask me why they gave it to me...lol. be exceptionaly carefull with that stuff, it`s a fire hazzard, and although it has a low DV in comparison to other explosives, it CAN make the DDT! other than that, have fun ))
YT2095 Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 and DDT = Deflagration to Detonation Transition, in case you were wondering
r1dermon Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 yeah i know...i made some rocket fuel with it...works a lot better than KNO3 and sugar. lol. now, wht would happen if i added a catalyst, like red iron oxide, or brown iron oxide...you think it would explode? im using ammonium perchlorate and aluminum powder. REALLY FINE aluminum powder. i dont know the mesh, i got it from a scrap yard. so far it works pretty good. i dont know a good binder to get this stuff into a solid grain, so i just press the powder and punch a core. it makes some good sparks al well as noise.
YT2095 Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 Epoxy resin`s good as a grain fixer. poly sorbitol`s ok, but better for plastique, most are rubberised and cast outside the case though, I`de go with the resin idea, it needs no air evap either
r1dermon Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 so i can just mix the powder with the resin until its like..sortof pasty? then cast it and plunge out the air bubbles? will this eventually get hard enough to keep shape? or will it still deform if i touch it?
