Well concurant to the expencivity of buying elements I have decided to make my own, allthough could do with a little help.

So how can i extract chlorine and silicon for starters?

just use HCl on NaOCl (a cleaning agent on bleach) to get chlorine gas. with regard to silicon, just look for transistors

It takes a little bit more than just mixing HCl and NaOCl to get chlorine. You will also need to run the generated gas through some distilled water to remove any remaining HCl gas, or contamination from the sodium hypochlorite. After it goes through the water, you'll also need to dry it by passing it through some anhydrous sodium bicarbonate. Once the chlorine has passed through the water AND the bicarbonate, it should be clean and dry enough to ampoule. (At least that's how I did it. But I used 37% HCl and some powdered calcium hypochlorite).

Silicon can be extracted by thermite reaction using Al and SiO2. White sand is good enough but strong preheating is required.

250g of 30% HCL and 50g of manganesse dioxide, added slowly until no more Chlorine gas is produced, is the Standard way to produce it :)

your choice really.

you could either Buy it, or make it :)

Path/patio cleaner contains HCl, or you could add house salt to Sulphuric acid and distill it :)

You can always use a themite reaction to take the oxygen from an element oxide. A good (or bad, if you want to look at it that way :P ) is to extract thorium from thorium oxide (can be found in burnt lantern mantles) with lithium. Don't do it too much, since it starts to get illegal at some point. :P

with the correct equipment, sure you could.

it`s not difficult :)

SiO2 and something to accept the oxygen, leaving the X Oxide and the pure silicon.
