Making Something Impossible

Hii..

 

Few years back when i was in diploma..

i watched a video of MR. PRanav mistri about sixth sense...

 

and after 3 years..(I might sound dumb) but wanna a create it as my final year project...

i have collected all the info.. like the technologies used, budget,interfaces etc... but

the thing is that i need a lil guidance about wher to start from. as this project is a complex one and includes

many real time technologies like "Augmented Reality" "Computer Vision" etc..

 

So please anyone can lead me to some direction. abt how should i get started and other info.

i would be grateful to u..

Pre-Production:

 

1) Define the scope of the project

- how long do you have

- what do you believe you can accomplish/4

- how long did it take someone else

 

2) Assess the technologies you will use

- what technologies have you used

- what technologies are required

- budget

 

3) Define your platform

- whose technologies will you use

- whose technologies are documented in such a way that they are manageable by you

- whose technologies will meet your budget

 

4) Develop a Project Plan

- Assign a budget and break it into its components

- schedule all of your tasks dates and amount of time

 

5) Project Documentation

- Technical Document; what and how

- Project Document; logic behind(why), goals, interfaces, utility, references

- cross reference both documents; what is being achieved(PD) => how(TD)

 

Technologies:

 

1) Audio/Visual Input/Output

- cameras

- microphones

- projectors

- audio transducers

 

2) Audio/Visual Pattern Recognition

- processors designed for this purpose

- languages; c++, java, haskell . . . .

- software components on market; haskell packages

- platform API; COM/.NET, Android, Java . . . .

 

3) Central Processing

- base platform; netbook, iphone . . . . windows 7 phone

- memory; persistent, processing, cache . . . .

Dude I love Deus Ex! The main augmentations is more about enhancing your body though, like enhanced strength to move heavy objects say. I've just looked at an article on the sixth sense and it does sound a lot like the AIs in that game that have access to the all the information in the world. So for us to interact with this intangible information through our hands would be quite a trick. I've been watching this program a Brave New World and it shows how we can use our minds alone to control a wheelchair. So is this what your project will be about, to manipulate data using your hands?

 

I think something similar was shown in the film Minority Report where he interacts with a screen or a projection by hand motions alone.

yup.. it involves some of the real time technologies like Computer vision, Augmentation... etc..

 

its tracks ur gestures made by your hand and feeds u with the info. that best suite's your criteria..
