@nightmare
Hi everyone, I'm trying to write an essay on the effect of mental imagery on neural connections and pathwats etc. I need to know where in the brain the imagining process occurs. Hope one of you can help!
iNow
It depends a lot upon what you're imagining, and generally involves many brain regions. If you're imagining a landscape you saw as a child, it will involve your memory and vision centers, and often emotional connections. If you are imagining how to play tennis, you will usually have parts of your motor cortex involved. If you are imagining how to complete a complex math problem, you will have involvement of the frontal / prefrontal cortex. In fact, the frontal cortex, emotional and memory centers are probably involved in some way regardless of what you're imagining. The brain is a dynamic, interconnected part of us, and there is generally no "one part" that does just about anything. Which part is most active often depends upon the subject of your imagination.
