krissy Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Is it possible for a schizophrenic to live and work, raise a family and function completely 'normally' in society without any medication or therapy? If someone diagnosed with schizophrenia or a schizophrenic-like illness can function in this way is it proof that they were miss-diagnosed?
PhDwannabe Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Is it possible for a schizophrenic to live and work, raise a family and function completely 'normally' in society without any medication or therapy? Yes. But "possible" is not a difficult bar to cross. It is not probable. It is more probable that this can occur with medication. It is yet more probably if you replace "completely" with "relatively." If someone diagnosed with schizophrenia or a schizophrenic-like illness can function in this way is it proof that they were miss-diagnosed? Nope.
