Topher Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 Hey, I know this is a little off topic but I'm having a little trouble finding the information .. everywhere I look the answer is just ''take it to a mechanic'' .. so here's the question, how do I do an oil change for a 1990 toyota celica manual and how much oil will I need to replace the drained oil? also what grade of oil is best for a car this old? before you ask yes I have the ability to jack the entire car up enough to get under it and all the tools I should need. Thanks for your help.
iNow Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 Jack it up. Find the plug. Open it. Drain. Replace plug. Review manual for fill amount. Fill with that amount. Use oil that's best for your climate, not your car. Done.
Phi for All Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 how much oil will I need to replace the drained oil? Four quarts, or four and a half to five if you change the filter at the same time (which you should). Buy the oil at an auto parts store so you can get a new filter and the people there will tell you which oil is best for your area. They can also tell you where to recycle your old oil.
InigoMontoya Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 Worst case scenario: 1) Add a quart. 2) Check oil level. 3) Repeat until desired oil level is attained.
