Greg Boyles Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 where can i buy calcium oxide powder? thanks in advance to any replies Builder's lime, for making mortar, is calcium oxide I believe.
Greg Boyles Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 i think that's hydrated lime =/ You can probably convert it to oxide by heating it but I don't know what temperature would be required.
John Cuthber Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 where can i buy calcium oxide powder? thanks in advance to any replies What for? You could always make it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lime_kiln The stuff is difficult to keep (it reacts with H2O and or CO2 from the air) so it's generally made where it's needed.
the guy Posted January 5, 2012 Author Posted January 5, 2012 for an experiment with the exothermic reaction with water. and yeah i had considered that but wanted to check if there was an easier way first.
