Fellowes Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 Now I don't know anything about cloning. However the other day I was thinking, if they can clone an animal, that is a living thing composed of cells etc. etc. , then is it possible to clone food? Food is composed of cells and such and are living things. Now like I said, I don't know much about this subject and there might be an obvious answer I don't know about, but any answers would of most interest.
c dawg Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 if you could clone food then we could solve world hunger. its genious. let's figure out how to do it sometime fellowes and win like the nobel prize.
Gilded Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 Umm... Food is usually plants or animals. You can't really clone "dead" food, such as potato chips since... it's dead, so the cells can't multiply... or split, or whatever that they do when one cell becomes more than one. But sure, you could clone some living cells and then eat them. Yum yum, cloned meat.
TokenMonkey Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 Chances are that it'd probably be more expensive to clone the food than to actually grow it...
Fellowes Posted November 15, 2004 Author Posted November 15, 2004 true, but how long does it take to clone? and gilded, of course you wouldnt clone chips, c'mon now man, but like fruitas or vegetables maybe?
mattd Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 It would be cool if we could "vat grow" just the portions we want. yum yum, cloned filet mignons from the filet vat.
