Daedalus Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 ...is this guy for real? I'm not sure. He may be a troll from Narnia for all I know.
JTuffnell Posted February 1, 2012 Author Posted February 1, 2012 Here is that link you missed: http://primes.utm.edu/largest.html http://primes.utm.ed.../page.php?id=14 Ooo.... this one is huge: http://www.math.utah...largeprime.html I can keep this up all day. If you are interested in large numbers than visit this site: http://www.mersenne.org/ They love to prove that these large numbers are primes. Why do you keep going on about primes? IM NOT TALKING ABOUT PRIMES! Just the biggest number ever If your just trying to get me to show you my calculations, so you can claim that you worked it out, then FORGET IT! Im not that stupid....try harder -1
Daedalus Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 (edited) I could care less about your calculations. Prime numbers are amongst the biggest known numbers that have meaning behind them. They are also quite common in science and mathematics. We still have no clue what your number means, and I don't think most of us actually care. It's not like we would win a Fields Medal for knowing your method. Edited February 1, 2012 by Daedalus

Daedalus Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 (edited) Besides, I have discoverd my own equations which can produce numbers larger than yours: http://www.sciencefo...es-by-daedalus/ Oh... you are also not allowed to steal my equations. However, feel free to use them. Just make sure you bring them back when you are done. Edited February 1, 2012 by Daedalus
Phi for All Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 The answer to "what is the biggest number of all time"??? I thought this was clear? Define "big", please.
md65536 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 The numbers remind me of this: It's genius though! It's no wonder numbers have always boggled scientists! We've always been trying to find big numbers using just digits from 1 to 9. No one ever thought of using a 14 before! Troll though? Maybe we'll never know. It's not like one could just check the other videos uploaded by the same user on youtube. I think it's great. From "it's too much of a taboo subject" and "People couldn't work out... squares" to the closing inspirational thoughts, this is just enough like other serious crackpot theories that it's treated like one.

Ok... I watched the video and others by the OP. Let's just say that I'm going to be nice and withhold my comments.
JTuffnell Posted February 1, 2012 Author Posted February 1, 2012 Ok... I watched the video and others by the OP. Let's just say that I'm going to be nice and withhold my comments. ??????????
D H Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 ?????????? He was going by the adage "if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all." I won't go by that adage. Your concept is nonsense. No matter how big a number you claim as the largest, and I'll just take your number and add one to it. My number is bigger than yours. There is no largest number.
md65536 Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 (edited) He was going by the adage "if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all." I'll go by that. I think the video and OP's others are very funny and I like the ironic, satirical sense of humor. Edited February 2, 2012 by md65536 1
StringJunky Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 (edited) I'll go by that. I think the video and OP's others are very funny and I like the ironic, satirical sense of humor. Yeah, he's quite a good comedian if that style tickles you which it did me. Edited February 2, 2012 by StringJunky
michel123456 Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Another example about the "who is talking" importance. He is not so bad. It is an achievement to make humor on this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RclSswpw4g&feature=related I think the problem is that we are not able to catch him. IMHO he should lower his level.
dimreepr Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 The answer to "what is the biggest number of all time"??? I thought this was clear? And yet it still remains smaller than all the numbers submitted so far in this thread, so WHAT is the question you posed to arrive at your answer?
Ophiolite Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 @JTufnell. Can you apply your theory to words as well as numbers? Does your working reveal what is the largest word in Bahasa Melayu?
michel123456 Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 I don't know what the avocado constant is, sorry. This thread is to be read twice, definitely! And yet it still remains smaller than all the numbers submitted so far in this thread, so WHAT is the question you posed to arrive at your answer? He is joking. His question is WHAT can I do to turn seemingly intelligent people into stupid ones. He found the answer. I think he is great.
Klaynos Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 It's clearly a comedy, and not badly executed. I do have a question for the OP though, are you familiar with the below video?

swansont Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 ! Moderator Note I'm citing Poe's law and shutting this down. BTW, there is neither a Nobel prize for math, nor for satire.
