popjinx Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 Why do molecules absorb in the visable region of the light spectrum?? Do their structures have something to do with it? I was told it had to do with conjugation, but I am still confused. Please help!
serunato Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 Usually the electrons that absorb visible light are involved in pi bonding. That is why the conjugation is involved. Look at molecular orbital theory for a better understanding.
