Dengue treatment

Recommended Posts

Dengue disease is so old.it has root in jin dynasty china 320 AD.but no treatment have been discribed yet.i thnk y thre is no treatment

What you say is true. Prevention is mainly concerned with eliminating mosquitoes and mosquito bites. There is hope for a vaccine in a few years time. The link gives much information. The attachment is an excerpt from the link. http://www.medicinenet.com/dengue_fever/article.htm

This is a nasty virus, spread by mosquitoes as Tony McC mentioned. However, I have realised that there are two versions of Dengue. One is milder but not fatal, whilst the other, Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever, is more dangerous as the name suggests.

Dengue Fever

Dengue Fever

Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever

The only treatment I could find was for people to keep hydrated during Dengue Fever but for medical intervention to transfuse blood during blood loss in Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever.

Tinospora codifolia a Ayurvedic drug has been proved to be very useful. The best treatment is to anyhow keep the production of platelets high and tinospora does the same.Another best method will be controlling the mosquitoes because if we can take control of the intermediate host we can make the parasite to evolve towards mildness and less virulent strain.

Do you actually have any real evidence for that?

Reverse Pharmacology is a growing field in India where we are trying to elucidate and document robust pharmacological effects of ancient herbs.Tinospora is very widely used in India for the treatment of Dengue specifically by Patanjali Yogpeeth. You can see the following link for the confirmation in animals : http://scialert.net/fulltext/?doi=ijp.2011.659.663&org=11

What is the difference between malaria and dengue disease carriers(mosquitoes)?why carriers cannot get the disease by itself?

Basically, dengue is transmitted by mosquitoes of genus Aedes and Malaria by Phlebotomines. They function only as vectors not being greatly affected by the virus (in case of dengue) or parasite (in case of malaria).

The big question that goes around dengue is how our body responds to infection. Up till now, we know that the immune response elicited by the virus is very peculiar and is not only related with the clearance of viruses but also with the desease itself (as in many other disorders). How many times we've heard of citotoxic TCD4 cells or that in a second viral infection you have more chances to develop worse clinics? Immune response to dengue disease kind of creates a new issue on immunology and we will need to elucidade a lot of it before being gifted with a secure vaccine against it.

No you can't.

That is about something else entirely.

I agree. The article doesn´t say anything about its effectivenes against dengue. As he said, it is something widely used in cases of dengue, maybe we will have something published in the recent years about the connection between the herb and dengue clinical signs.
