Tharindu Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Hi Everyone. Im new to here and I hope to improve my knowledge through this form. I need to know is there any solution for foam which arise from waste water aeration tank? I mean there is a big foam on surface of aeration tank while aerating. So I hope your comments here. thanx
CaptainPanic Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Well, there exist chemicals which are "anti foam". But I wonder: is there any particular problem with the foam? Why do you want to get rid of it?

Why do you want to get rid of it? thanks for your reply. we have activated sludge system. So we used chemical in DAF (dissolved air flotation) tank to make foam and then scrape out. from the aeration tank, some amount of water return to the DAF tank. then we cannot use anti-foam agents, it will bother to the action of foaming agent. the foam which float on surface of aeration tank, will disturb during the pumping of treated water to the out. sometimes foam is mixed with treated water and I think it can pollute environment. what on your mind about this?

I am not sure I understand... you want to stop the foam from going with treated water? Why can't you just scrape the foam off?
Tharindu Posted February 24, 2012 Author Posted February 24, 2012 I am not sure I understand... you want to stop the foam from going with treated water? Why can't you just scrape the foam off? is it possible? How can I do that? it is very huge open tank (2000 cubic meter) with floating aerater. Sometime it can manage with introducing mechanical foam scraper but practically we are facing some problems with largeness and other issues.
CaptainPanic Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 I am really not 100% sure... but the logical place for removing foam is at the exit: just put the exit under water. Because foam is only at the top, it will not go out. Once again, I do not have a clear picture of the problem, so I am not sure this solution will work.
