Dark/Light Matter?

The Arctic heats up faster than the rest of the globe because dark ground and water, once exposed, soak up far more heat than snow and ice.

 

Why does darker matter soak up more sun then light matter?

Thank you for the link. I will read it tommorow. It is 3:30 AM here and I better get to bed so I can wake up before 1 PM tommorow. I really don't know a whole lot about Physics. This should be intresting!
