CaptainPanic Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 It starts by making lots of high quality posts. Also, it may help if you know that Cap'n Refsmmat likes cookies.
hypervalent_iodine Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Cookies or cheese nips. Essentially, if you make enough quality posts and staff notices you, someone will nominate you in the super top secret Res Experts forum. If staff can reach a consensus and the person in question agrees to supply food (read: cookies and cheese nips), then Cap'n bestows upon them the powers befitting their newly acquired title.

Would you like beer or wine with the cookies and cheese nips?
mississippichem Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 You write a check payable to mississippichem in USD for no less than five thousand. You could actually just be competent and knowledge, but where is the fun in that?
swansont Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Would you like beer or wine with the cookies and cheese nips? Why is it phrased as an either/or question? 1
Joatmon Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Why is it phrased as an either/or question? I was always taught "Never mix the grain and the grape", but if that's what it takes ..............!
ydoaPs Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Staff votes. Cap'n adds them to special user group. They get new permissions. End program. Really? I thought there were stat points, D-100s, and attribute modifiers involved.
Phi for All Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 I was always taught "Never mix the grain and the grape", but if that's what it takes ..............! swansont missed that class. You should hear him try to say "physicist" after a six-pack and a box of Chablis.
hypervalent_iodine Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Why is it phrased as an either/or question? Much better. 1
Moontanman Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I can grow coral in a shot glass, does that qualify me as an expert?
rktpro Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I can grow coral in a shot glass, does that qualify me as an expert? But you would have to present it to all the powerful and dictator like people who are experts here and bow before them. 1
swansont Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I can grow coral in a shot glass, does that qualify me as an expert? I'm not sure that even qualifies you as a bartender. How often do people order a shot of coral?
Joatmon Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Much better. Well, all I need to know now is where to send it (or if it's a party where to bring it).
Moontanman Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I'm not sure that even qualifies you as a bartender. How often do people order a shot of coral? Hmmm, what if i genetically engineered the coral to excrete tequila?
swansont Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Hmmm, what if i genetically engineered the coral to excrete tequila? As long as it does not need to feed on Cheese Nips to do so, that sounds like a winner.
Xittenn Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 It seems to me that being a moderator or resident expert means that you don't do things like start threads (MississippiChem's chemical space thread noted and applauded.) So as a member I would wonder why anyone would even want to be a mod or an expert. I mean it is almost completely synonymous with answering homework questions and playing security guard. Swansont does a great job in his blog posts but honestly he could come down to the forum and taste the rainbow of fruit flavour from the lounge! Just sayin', no one ban me or nuffin' k . . .
imatfaal Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 As long as it does not need to feed on Cheese Nips to do so, that sounds like a winner. I dunno getting rid of cheese nips in return for tequila seems like a win win to me
swansont Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I dunno getting rid of cheese nips in return for tequila seems like a win win to me Blasphemy. If you ever saw the mod/expert rec room, you'd notice the orange walls. That ain't paint! Cheese Nip dust. 1
timo Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 (edited) Blasphemy. If you ever saw the mod/expert rec room, you'd notice the orange walls. That ain't paint! iNow Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 On another note, all of their keyboards glow in the dark now.
Moontanman Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 (edited) On another note, all of their keyboards glow in the dark now. Ummm i thought we weren't going to tell them about the radium in the cheese nips.... Edited April 5, 2012 by Moontanman
iNow Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Ummm i thought we weren't going to tell them about the radium in the cheese nips.... No need to worry. The conservatives gutted the FDA and stripped away all of the regulations on food products, so radium is actually the least troubling ingredient in them.
Moontanman Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 No need to worry. The conservatives gutted the FDA and stripped away all of the regulations on food products, so radium is actually the least troubling ingredient in them. So the plan is still in effect?
