Though I suppose it is an incomplete sentence with that in mind, so thanks for pointing it out. There should have been another clause beginning with a verb in plus-perfect form after the comma that is after "fuel". With a density ~ 5 x 10^17 kg/m^3, anything visible to the naked eye would be extremely heavy. It could easily push through the surface of the earth to a significant depth.
