Okay, so there's a lot of pornography online now. Impossible to protect all our children, family and others from exposure.

You WILL be affected by it somehow, either directly or indirectly.

Husbands are cheating on their wives and wives are cheating on their husbands and now it's becoming more socially acceptable and the norm in some places particularly the US/Europe.

Also, many teachers/lawyers/pastors/doctors/atheists/scientists are watching pornography right now.

My question, what are some of the negative consequences of living in a society where pornography is so readily available with the click of a button?

What would happen to society if pornography viewing/production was made illegal?

Would society cope and would it still be able to function? Would the world be a better place if the right to watch pornography was taken away? Would rape crimes increase or decrease?

How does pornography affect how we think and process additonal information?

Is it degrading to women?

What do you think are the major obstacles to having it banned?

Do you think it will ever be banned world wide?

I am worried that my children will be living in a society where so much filth is accessible to a lot of people.

Even inside churches many Christians are suffering from severe pornography addiction. So it doesn't just affect atheists.

"We started our research seeking men in their twenties who had never consumed pornography. We couldn't find any"

"All test subjects said they supported gender equality and felt victimized by rhetoric demonizing pornography. “Pornography hasn't changed their perception of women or their relationship which they all want as harmonious and fulfilling as possible. Those who could not live out their fantasy in real life with their partner simply set aside the fantasy. The fantasy is broken in the real world and men don't want their partner to look like a porn star,” says Lajeunesse."

To be direct, you can't dictate morality, it's immoral and tyrannical to attempt to do so. I choose freedom over someone else's perception of what is best for me 100% of the time.

Even if it were illegal (and frankly defined), people would still find a way. They made alcohol illegal. People still drank. They made pot illegal. People still smoke. The legality of an action is only of minor importance to anyone who truly wishes to engage in it. In fact, the forbidden fruit stigma may make it even more desirable.

Making porn illegal would achieve nothing but making it more sought after and adding a criminal element to it. We have ample evidence to support that conclusion.

Has increased availability of porn had a negative impact on society? Are there any studies that show this?

I'm more concerned with why words for sex and body parts are used as invectives. The appeal of porn seems obvious, but why is "F--- you" such a derogatory declaration? Why is getting screwed such a bad thing? What's our perspective on sex if we want to avoid pricks and pussies? It's hard to find an invective that's not related to a genital or sexual function. Most porn isn't as bad as the way we turn sex into a way to malign each other.

...you can't dictate morality, it's immoral...to attempt to do so.

So in other words, you feel it is morally right to dictate to someone that they not be allowed to dictate morality to someone else...
