aussiedude626 Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 I have a chemistry test coming up, im in year 8. Is there any suggestions of what to revise for? Im studying the ozone layer, acid, bases , neutralization and equations for them. I also need to know the chemical reactions and stuff like that. I really need help as this can effect my grade when i do my gcse exams.
hypervalent_iodine Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 What to revise for is really not something we can properly answer without knowing your course content, particularly since a majority of people here aren't from Australia (I'm assuming by your user name that you are). I'm assuming you have notes from class? My advice would be to go through those and see what concepts you can list under each of the headings you gave in the OP and study those. Alternatively (or in addition), go to your teacher and ask what things you should focus your studies on. They're the ones who set the exam, so they'll know better than anyone here what you need to study.
aussiedude626 Posted April 29, 2012 Author Posted April 29, 2012 Thank you, but in the test they are most likely to make us solve equations of chemical reactions and i dont really understand them, can you give me an example?
hypervalent_iodine Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Well, that depends entirely on what kid of chemical reactions you're learning. Since this is grade 8, I'm assuming you're not learning anything terribly advanced, but it would nevertheless be of some help if you could perhaps give an example of what it is you're learning. I can't really help you if I don't know where to direct my assistance.
aussiedude626 Posted April 29, 2012 Author Posted April 29, 2012 I need help with the equations of adding acid and bases together. I need some examples and what is the outcome of adding acid and bases together.
hypervalent_iodine Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Well what do you think might happen? If I react HCl (hydrochloric acid) and NaOH (sodium hydroxide), what do you think will be produced? I suppose it's also worth asking if you know what a double displacement reaction is?
