guy rocks up to the er. weak confused says he feels "very very" unwell and "i cannot i cannot" walk very well. says hes been eating only white rice for months. initial thoughts?

scurvy

 

No vitamin C in white rice.

Takes 1-3 months to kick in.

Symptoms are malaise and lethargy.

 

 

 

Edit: Added some detail to guess. I'll keep working on it to see if I can come up with something else! :)

hay thanks for the guess. i wont give hints till a bunch of more people have had a shot....maybe a few hours maybe a day.....please state thinkings/workings too

Beriberi

and, unlike scurvy, there's no particular incidence of bleeding gums and poor tissue strength.

Though, on a diet like that you would get all the vitamin deficiencies in the end. If he was washing his rice down with orange juice he'd avoid scurvy.

Hm, repetitive phraseology "very very", "I cannot I cannot"; plus rice-diet - is he a serial/cereal complainer?
