delanecl Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 I'm using a current transformer (LEM APR 50 BIO) to measure current at inlet of machine. The transformer outputs voltage. I'm using a MYDAQ with LABview to read in and record data. I was just looking for advice on the setup? I've never used a MyDAQ or LABview before. Do I need a resistor, or how do I find the current? Thanks
National Instruments K12 Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Hey delanecl If the output from the transformer is just a voltage, you can read it with myDAQ without any extra hardware Here is a tutorial on reading voltage with myDAQ and LabVIEW http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/6436 Tutorial for measuring current directly with myDAQ (up to 1 A) http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/6437 How to read current through a shunt resistor https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-12946 Here is a general getting started with myDAQ and LV video http://zone.ni.com/wv/app/doc/p/id/wv-2084 To get help from NI engineers post your questions on the myDAQ Zone Forums https://decibel.ni.com/content/groups/mydaq Cheers NI Academic Team PS: as far as capitalization goes it is always "myDAQ" and "LabVIEW" (Lab Virtual Instrumentation Engineering Workbench) Piano Staircase with myDAQ and LV
