Ice_Phoenix87 Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 i just put some LEDS in my comp, they are not very bright. There is about 16 of them anything i can do to brighten them?
Cap'n Refsmmat Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 Put in more? Are they connected to the computer's power supply or their own outlet? The computer's supply is a lot lower voltage and probably makes them dim... while they may not be able to take a full 120/240 (or whatever there is where you live) either.
MolecularMan14 Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 Up da voltage! and if they explode...send pics!
YT2095 Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 are you using the +12 or +5 volt rail? and how have you got them wired, what arrangement? 3 in series acros the +5v rail should be fine, then do the same 4 more times across it (parallel). 15 leds. plenty bright enough
5614 Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 Up da voltage! and if they explode...send pics! i did that (deliberately), they didnt explode, just went out and then did nothing......... dead! quite boring really. what YT said really, it is mainly dependant on what power supply you are using and maybe the power rating of the LEDs
Radical Edward Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 you can get ultrabright LEDs now too. cost a bit though.
Dave Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 Don't bother with LEDs. Get some cathode tubes instead. Costs you about a fiver from eBuyer and they come with molex connectors for easy fitting.
5614 Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 you can get ultrabright LEDs now too. cost a bit though. i was going to get some hyperbright LEDs, i showed YT the spec, he said too bright to look at for more than a few secs, then the shop re-did their whole website and no matter what i search i cannot find em anywhere. even better they were almost the same cost as normal LEDs. "Get some cathode tubes instead." yeah, they're cool, slightly different effect and if hes already got LEDs may and use em, but cathode tubes are becoming more common.
