Primarygun Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 Flower--->Cow---->Human Is cow act as producer when it is eaten by a human? Finally, human died and their bodies are decomposed by bacteria. Then plants absorb the mineral salts provided. Are the salts carry energy to the next trophic level? Dead bodies--->bacteria--->Plant ( Is this a energy flow?)
Sayonara Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 The plant is the producer. The cow is the primary consumer, and the human is the secondary consumer. If by mineral salts you mean micronutrients like nitrogen, potassium etc, then no - these aren't part of the energy flow into the plant (well, they may be involved in energetic reactions, I can't really remember to behonest. But if so, it's insignificant compared to the energy derived through photosynthesis). Bacterial decomposition of a body does represent an energy flow.
Primarygun Posted November 25, 2004 Author Posted November 25, 2004 Thank you. When does a green plant act as consumer?
Sayonara Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 Only the carnivorous plants are consumers - pitcher plants, Venus fly traps, bladder worts, sundews etc.
Primarygun Posted November 25, 2004 Author Posted November 25, 2004 Consumer should be replaced by predator. Oh sorry:P
Primarygun Posted November 25, 2004 Author Posted November 25, 2004 What's the relationship between the organisms in contact in the trophic level? Flea is one level above a dirty monkey.
YT2095 Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 parasitic at a guess. using the flea and the monkey example.
