What is this Server called

I would like to perform some calculations based on mathematics or algorithms or real-time values (like sniper websites for ebay, etc.) on the cloud and the results need to be sent to the user's computer. Are there any specific names for the servers that perform such operations on the cloud? My next doubt is, can I use my Tablet or Laptop to operate as a server and perform such operations

 

Since I don''t have much knowledge in these topics I have questioned in best possible way to be easily understandable.
