Alfred001 Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Could you help me figure out what the problem is here: Sometimes certain completely unrelated sites will become inaccessible to me, I can't connect to them using any browser. This will last for days and then become accessible and then inaccessible again. I can't find any reason for this. I did a virus search with NOD and a scan with malwarebytes antimalware and nothing came up. Does anyone know what this could be?
zapatos Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Have you tried accessing the sites with a different device when you encountered the problem?
ecoli Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 try checking the sites on isup.me and then ping the URL from a terminal and see if you get a response
Alfred001 Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 Oh, yes, sorry, I forgot to add, I know that the sites are definitely up, that the problem is with me.
zapatos Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Can you be specific about what happens? What do you mean by 'inaccessible'? Any error messages? I'm wondering if you have also ruled out your local network or ISP.

I'm wondering if you have also ruled out your local network or ISP. What happens is that it says "waiting for website x.com" and then eventually it says "the connection was reset." These are not websites that the ISP would block, and it's not the LAN either, because the other computer on the network has the same situation - can connect to the internet, but certain random websites it can't connect to.
