Could people float across the Atlantic or Pacific Ocean and live?

I don't think so. The water temperature is very low. Also, the oceans are very large and they need to spend a lot of energy swimming and keeping their body warm. Big waves, sharks, rains, factors which may make the situation worse.

With or without a lifejacket? For how long? Wearing clothes? How old? At night? What a tough question!!!

If they were immersed, no. The body loses heat four times faster in water than in air, and it's hard to maintain your temperature for long under those circumstances. Exhaustion would soon set in and hypothermia would kill you.
