Cause of a random sprouting stem?

We have our landscaping done once a week. This is taken 4-5 days after it was done last. I started thinking about why this could be that one stem has taken off so rapidly while the others are growing at a normal pace. It's not like it's getting more nutrient or sunlight (or is it?) If this is an obvious question, maybe a link to some hints? Thanks for reading!

from what i can guess, you cut the bush with a hedge cutter

the hedge cutter cut off the tips of all the stems (this part is responsible for growth)

for most of the stems you removed this part so the plant is rebuilding it and the stems do not grow

for that one stem the tip was still there (you missed it with hedge cutter because it was short)

so its now growing quickly since there are no other stems to interfere with it

 

its just a rough guess at the most likely reason for it

Maybe it was bended at time of cutting (so it was already longer) because somebody or an animal walked over it, and a few days after it was upright again.
