Alyannabffs Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 (edited) Hello! We are two freshmen from a high school in Arizona. In our physics class, we are participating in a bungee egg drop project. Although, we are having trouble thinking of ideas for a harness. Students will provide the elastic cord and harness to use for the drop. The teacher will provide a large raw Grade AA egg. Teams may bring a substance like sand to add to the harness to obtain a constant mass. At least two cm of the pointed end of the egg must be extending below the bottom of the attachment harness. This is where my friend and I are having problems. Does anyone have any ideas for a harness? It must be secure enough to hold this egg, must fit the size requirements and must have a place where the egg can poke out We are NOT asking for anyone to tell us what to do, we just want a point in the right direction:) THANK YOU! imatfaal Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 1. I would say you want as much surface area of the egg in contact with harness as possible. Are grade AA eggs in USA similar enough that you could use an egg at home to make a mould around one, then cut off enough to show 2 cm? 2. Last time I saw this done more eggs bounced out than smashed so the harness should be all around. 3. Think modular - absolutely snug holder, really loose elastic, tighter elastic, tightest elastic, secure connection
